The engagement ring, the first promise

The engagement ring opens the journey. It is what one holds in the palm before asking the question. A classic solitaire on claws, a more contemporary bezel-set version, a trilogy where three stones answer one another, or a halo that frames the central stone with a circle of diamonds: each design tells things in its own way. The diamond remains the most chosen stone, for its light and for its strength, which makes it suited to daily wear. Sapphire, emerald and ruby offer a coloured alternative, for anyone who wishes for a ring a little off the beaten path.

The choice comes down to a few simple criteria: the shape of the stone, its size in carats, the colour of the gold, the type of setting. The women's wedding band, the everyday piece

The wedding band is often chosen after the engagement ring, and as its continuation: the same gold colour, the same spirit, so that the two pieces are worn together without a false note. It is the piece that no longer leaves the hand. Its simplicity is therefore its strength.

For women, the range runs from the plain band, pared back and timeless, to the half-eternity band whose set diamonds cover only the visible part, through to the full band paved all around with stones. Yellow gold remains a classic, white gold accompanies the brilliance of diamonds, rose gold brings its soft tone against the skin. The men's wedding band, understated and solid

A man's wedding band is known by its restraint. A wide or fine band, a polished or brushed surface, all in gold or set with a discreet diamond: the design goes to the essential, because it is worn every day and must last over time. Choosing 9 or 18 carat gold

For these three pieces, two carat weights are open to you. 18 carat gold is the classic choice of fine jewellery, the most commonly chosen for an engagement ring or a wedding band. 9 carat gold, just as solid, holds a smaller share of gold: it makes the same creations accessible to a more measured budget, without giving anything up on the design or the quality.
