Around the central stone, diamond or coloured gem, a row of small diamonds forms a dense crown. This luminous circle creates a magnifying effect: the central stone appears larger than it is, and its brilliance is multiplied. Some models go further with a double halo, two concentric circles for even more presence. One and the same central diamond thus gains in visual impact, without changing its carat weight.

Understanding the budget

As with any engagement ring, the central stone weighs most heavily in the price, through its size in carats and its nature. The halo has precisely the advantage of making the stone look larger, which allows a generous result with a centre of reasonable carat weight. To adjust further, several routes are open: a cluster-set centre, a lab-grown diamond with the same properties as a natural diamond, or a coloured gemstone such as sapphire, emerald or ruby.
