A shouldered solitaire frames the centre stone with side stones, while a trilogy builds its design around three stones. A halo surrounds the centre stone with smaller stones, creating a brighter composition around it.
These main styles are starting points rather than fixed designs: each can vary in proportions, stone shapes and settings. The same idea of an engagement ring can therefore take on a very classic, contemporary or more distinctive character.
Gold, diamonds and coloured gemstones
